About Afresist
Afresist is a millennial-led ecosystem working throughout Africa since 2019, to develop innovative leadership models, train the next generation of peacebuilders and promote public policies based on the principle of Pan-Africanism.

Afresist runs multiple projects including the Afresist Youth Leadership Program (AYLP), the Nala Feminist Collective (NalaFEM), among others.


About Nala Feminist Collective
Nala Feminist Collective is a Pan-African group of 17 feminists with a mission to foster, enable and mobilize young women from Africa and the Diaspora. NalaFEM is guided by the Africa Young Women Beijing+25 Manifeo targeting political, digital and offline spaces. NalaFEM is convened by Afresist.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be  the point of contact among executives, employees, and other external partners

Duties and responsibilities

  • Develop a comprehensive Communications and Press strategy along with an execution plan that meets acceptable benchmarks;
  • Coordinate and deliver the preparation and issuing of press/media releases,
  • Coordinate newsletters/mailers for actions and activities

Duties and responsibilities

Develop and manage a sound and adapted-to-context monitoring, evaluation, and learning system, across all Nalafem programs that leverages qualitative and quantitative methods, and draws from a variety of data sources to measure progress, evaluate impact and promote learning. This should include: 

  • Definition of specific methods and tools to monitor projects indicators
  • Proposition of standardized sector indicators
  • Development of a data collection and M&E systems
  • Monitoring and evaluation of project activities (operational progress, outputs, and outcomes)
  • Design and undertake in-depth internal evaluations as required 
  • Provide technical input on Nalafem to project proposals as required

2. Facilitate the learning process for the development of evidence-based programming, as well as facilitate the knowledge transfer to increase the quality of Nalafem’s actions. This includes:  

  • Analysis and compilation of best practices and lessons learnt
  • Coordination with Nalafem digital team for the development of a communication strategy targeting dissemination of best practices targeting different stakeholder segments

  • Organization of one annual workshop for the restitution of best practices to Nalafem staff

III. SCOPE OF THE SERVICE

We are seeking a skilled Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Consultant to support Nalafem Secretariat in strengthening its monitoring and evaluation systems and practices and generate based feedback for Nalafem 5-Years strategy and policies, and programmes planning. The M&E Consultant will work closely with Afresist Secretariat and Nalafem Coordinator

The overall objective of the assignment is the implementation of operational Monitoring and Evaluation for Nalafem strategy and flagship projects. The purpose is to provide the project teams with tools to effectively monitor project progresses and achievements and to feed management with feedback from Nalafem communities.

The consultant is expected to:

  • Study all projects documents and strategies 
  • Review the M&E needs and plans for the overall 5-year strategy and each flagship project, and extract relevant indicators to monitor the projects outcomes and outputs
  • Establish an effective data collection system and reporting forms for capturing quantitative
    and qualitative information
  • Identify sources of verification that the project can use. As much as possible, use existing data sources embedded in existing systems
  • Establish an operational manual of M&E system that includes the above and guides the project team in processing and evaluating the information
  • Implement the established M&E system during the life cycle of all the projects ongoing during the period of implementation of the assignment
  • Propose new relevant indicators to monitor the outcomes and outputs for all projects in the proposal-writing phase

Specific objectives:

  • To formulate a set of relevant, simple and straightforward indicators to monitor the project outputs and activities, through establishing of M&E system;

The timeframe/sequence of activities:

The expected outcome shall be achieved through the most appropriate methodology plan which is to be proposed by the potential consultant and is to include approaches to maximize the Nalafem staff and community’s participation in the process.

The consultant must provide a detailed description of the essential performance characteristics, reporting conditions and quality assurance mechanisms that will be put in place, while demonstrating that the proposed methodology will be appropriate to the local conditions and context of the work.

Scope of work
We are seeking a skilled webmaster and designer to join our growing communications team.
